Carriers of Renaissance culture.
Living history
Tuscany, the ideal place to spend an unforgettable holiday.
The region stretches from the Apennines to the Tyrrhenian Sea, with Florence as its capital. The city embodies the Renaissance era, and its art and architecture are the envy of the world. A visit to the Uffizi Gallery and a climb to the top of Brunelleschi’s dome at Florence Cathedral will give you a deeper understanding of why this is so.
Many visitors make time for a day trip from Florence to Pisa, whose leaning tower famously leans (you can climb it if you're feeling energetic). If you have more time, head south to Siena for another example of Tuscan splendor.
From here, it's not far to San Gimignano, a walled hill town famous for its medieval towers. The road becomes increasingly scenic as you head west towards Volterra, another hill town that was once an Etruscan stronghold.
The hills and valleys of Tuscany have been cultivated since Etruscan times. This beautiful landscape is dotted with villages and castles.
