The Acquacheta Waterfalls

A majestic place to visit

The Acquacheta Waterfalls are three big waterfalls located in the Apennine region of the Emilia Romagna province of Italy. They are all a part of the Acquacheta River in the Tuscan-Romagna Apennine Mountains. This place is full of greenery, with a rocky landscape and freshwater springs. It is one of the most beautiful places in Abruzzo.

The wet horse?

The water rushes for about 10 meters with a beautiful white shape reminiscent of a horse's tail. This shape has led people to call it also "cavallo bagnato" (wet horse). The source of water that forms this waterfall comes from underground springs formed by karst phenomena. It is also possible to see other small waterfalls along this river, but it's challenging to reach because they are located in very steep and inaccessible points.

Spot for the terrific pictures

The Acquacheta Waterfalls were actually discovered by a photographer named Antonio Tonelli, who was born in Riccione, Italy. He documented these falls after his journey through the mountains to photograph them. As a result of his photographic works, he promoted the natural beauty of these waterfalls through many local magazines. The photos were truly impressive.

Active travelers love it

The waterfalls are a popular tourist attraction for the area and one that is often listed on the top ten things to do while visiting Emilia Romagna. The area around the waterfalls is gorgeous, and many people enjoy hiking, biking, and even weekend tours to the site. The waterfalls are surrounded by fabulous mountains, trees, and flowers, making a spectacular sight. The best time to see this natural wonder is in late spring or early summer, when the weather is milder. If you like picturesque locations, this is one that you must see.
