Tuscan Coast

The Tuscan coast is a great place to visit if you want a warm and sunny vacation. It is an ideal destination for a family-friendly holiday, with its long stretches of golden sandy beaches, clear blue waters and dramatic rocky headlands.

The diversity of nature is one of the strengths of this region

The Tuscan coast stretches from Liguria in the north to Lazio in the south, all along the Tyrrhenian Sea. There is a wide range of landscapes: rocky coasts, sandy beaches, lowlands and hills.

Tuscan countryside

The Tuscan coast is noted for medieval villages surrounded by ancient walls, castles and fortresses. Its principal towns are Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi, but there are many other towns and areas to explore. There is nothing better than riding around the Tuscany countryside and stopping at various medieval villages along the way. A number of these villages are located on the top of a hill overlooking both the sea and a stunning nature reserve. You can also find many Roman archaeological ruins.

Finally, the best beaches in Italy

The main attractions along the coast are, certainly, beaches. The water is so clean due to strict environmental laws enforced by the local authorities.

Marina di Alberese is located in the Maremma Natural Park – it's hard to imagine a prettier setting for a dip in the sea. Flanked by dunes and pine forest, Marina di Alberese is also a significant nesting site for sea turtles, so swimming here is an unforgettable experience.

Spiaggia di Roccamare is located in Castiglione della Pescaia in the province of Grosseto. The beach is easily accessible and offers various services to tourists, including restaurants, umbrellas and sun loungers.

Cala Violina is a large bay with a beautiful pebble beach located between the towns of Scarlino and Follonica in Tuscany. The name comes from the unique sound produced by the pebbles when they rub together. It is considered one of the most beautiful panoramas of Tuscany: cypress trees, olive trees and Mediterranean vegetation surround it.

Besides swimming, there are other popular activities, including sailing and windsurfing. There are also plenty of water parks and theme parks for children to visit during their stay on the Tuscan coast.
