Beaches in San Vincenzo
San Vincenzo, situated on the Etruscan Coast and part of the Maremma region in Tuscany, is a peaceful and underrated little town that offers a few spectacular beaches.
Spiaggia di Rimigliano
Rimigliano beach is located in the Rimigliano Natural Park, between Castiglioncello and Punta Ala. It is a very good option for a family with its fine sand and clear water. Besides, it's not crowded at all compared to other beaches in the area. Spiaggia di Rimigliano is unique for its see balls or "egagropili". These are tightly packed balls of marine material, which are formed as a result of aggregating the plant fibers into a ball.
Dog beach
A day at the beach can be the ultimate dog-friendly experience. San Vincenzo dog beach is located in the south of the town. It's a very large sand beach with a special section reserved for dogs. It gets crowded on weekends in summer, but during the week, it's rather empty. The water here is lovely, the sand is clean and soft and there are always lots of dogs around. It's a nice place to talk to dog owners, especially if they speak English.
Spiaggia Torre Nuova
Torre Nuova beach is placed in a small bay and is surrounded by green mountains and Mediterranean vegetation. The beach is one of the most popular and appreciated by tourists, both for its natural beauty and for its crystal clear water. The seabed slopes gently, so it's ideal for families with children or for those not practiced swimmers. The beach is located close to the Torre Nuova tower dating back to the 16th century, which was once used as a lookout point for pirates.
Bagno Baratti
The protected Bagno Baratti beach is among the most picturesque beaches on the Etruscan Coast. It is located between Piombino and Populonia, not far from the archaeological area of the ancient Etruscan town of Populonia. Its particularity is that it is immersed in the Val di Cornia Regional Park, among Mediterranean shrublands and pine forests, making it an ideal place for a relaxing holiday. The beach is part of the Gulf of Baratti, a patch of unspoiled Tuscan nature, and has been awarded blue flag status, the EU's standard for clean beaches.
